The photos of this set originated from a “NVA”-training camp of the former German Democratic Republic during the years 1987-1989.
Most of the shown soldiers were only 18 and at the beginning of their three years field service for `peace and socialism`,which wasn`t always voluntary for the greater number of them. Up to 20.000 soldiers were drilled in and around Eggesin, the capital of the “NVA”, at the same time.
This place was THE nightmare of all inductees.
I`m very relieved that I had availed this chance myself, because of the fact that it was strictly forbidden to take photos of or in military equipments or units.
